Medact is a London based health charity born out of the Health Peace Movement, designed to enable health professionals to act on the social, political, ecological and economic determinants of health and health inequality.
Medact is also the UK partner of the EU-funded ‘Medical Peace Work’ project; a partnership of medical organisations and teaching institutions working to promote peace education within the health and medical sectors. Now in phase three (MPW3), we have developed a series of case-studies for undergraduate and post-graduate students, on the health aspects of war and armed conflict; and seven online courses which form an introduction to violence prevention and peacebuilding for health students and professionals.
Medact has also provided scholarships to medical and nursing students to study issues related to peace and war across Europe.
